SINGAPORE, Oct 28 — Air quality across Singapore remained suitable for normal activities on Wednesday (Oct 28) morning, with hourly PM2.5 in the normal band and 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) in the moderate range.

At 9am, concentration readings were in the normal band (0 - 55 µg/m3) in all five regions. It ranged from 33 in western Singapore to 44 in the central region.

Meanwhile, current PSI is within the forecast moderate range, with the highest reading of 78 recorded in western Singapore.

In its daily haze situation update on Tuesday evening, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said showers are expected over Kalimantan, Sumatra and Singapore and surrounding region.

“(This) could continue to help with the haze situation,” it added.

Checks on the Meteorological Service Singapore’s weather site at 9.40am indicates that thundery showers are still forecast over many areas in the afternoon.

But residents in Singapore should note that winds are expected to blow from the east-southeast or south-southeast on Thursday and Friday.

Notwithstanding the unfavourable wind direction, showers forecast over the region should help to lower the risk of haze, NEA said.

Members of the public are advised to still check the latest hourly PM2.5 readings before taking part in outdoor activities. — AsiaOne
