KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 — Malaysian actress Erysha Emyra is in no rush to make her big-screen debut, preferring to develop her acting skills through television dramas before taking on a feature film.

The actress, who has appeared in dramas including Cinta Untuk Sekali Lagi, Rumah Tanpa Luka and Ikatan Terlarang, said she was content to take her time before making the transition to cinema.

“I do not think it bothers me. I think I just need more time and space to really develop my work before taking that step.

“Making a movie takes a lot. You have to give a lot to your character and the story itself, so I think this is a nice learning curve for me,” she told Malay Mail.

Nevertheless, Erysha said she would welcome the opportunity when it comes.

“Yes, of course. It would be lovely to have the opportunity to do a movie one day.

“Insya-Allah, soon,” she said.

The Artis Baharu Wanita Popular award winner is also looking to expand her acting repertoire by exploring different genres and characters.

“I honestly love broadening my genres and would love to explore more characters in the future,” she said.

Her latest project, Viu’s investigative thriller Bayangan Dendam, marks her first venture into the genre.

Erysha plays Ariana in the 12-episode series, a departure from the romance, drama and comedy roles she has typically taken on.

“I think this is my first time exploring a different genre because I usually work on romance, drama and comedy.

“So, this was a very exciting experience for me,” she said.

She also described filming as an enjoyable and collaborative experience, with the cast and crew working together to bring the story to life.

The series, which also stars Nadhir Nasar and Sophia Albarakbah, is currently streaming on Viu, with two episodes released so far.

Its launch event was held yesterday at InSpace KL, Aurora Place, Bukit Jalil.

Erysha also encouraged Malaysians to support the series, saying she hoped to see more local productions exploring similar stories.

“I think Malaysians need more films and stories like this. It is very fresh, and it is fun to watch.

“I think everyone can enjoy the story, so everyone should keep watching,” she added.
