KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6 — Another Malaysian film has crossed the RM10 million mark in box office collections, with Adrian Teh’s action-thriller Chelot becoming the latest 2026 release to achieve the milestone.
As of 8 pm yesterday, Chelot has collected RM10.6 million domestically, continuing its strong run since its nationwide release on August 27.
Produced by ACT 2 Pictures, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), Astro Shaw, SunStrong Entertainment and Marvellous Culture & Film, Chelot has also maintained its No. 1 position on the box office charts for 11 days, which now even surpasses Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Its momentum has continued to grow, with additional halls recently being added to accommodate demand.
The movie Chelot had already generated attention long before its nationwide release.
One of its biggest talking points was its record-breaking action sequence, which earned a place in the Malaysia Book of Records for the longest single-take action sequence in Malaysian cinematic history.
The sequence stretches across 1.9 kilometres, travelling from Quill City Mall to Pertama Complex in Kuala Lumpur.
Shot continuously with a single camera, the sequence runs for 5 minutes and 19 seconds without being edited.
The film’s commitment to practical filmmaking has also been a major part of the conversation.
In a previous interview with Malay Mail, Teh revealed that Chelot is 95 per cent practical effects, ranging from explosions to bullet-hit effects, while keeping CGI use to a minimum.
With its latest box-office achievement, Chelot now joins a growing list of Malaysian films released in 2026 that have hit and crossed the RM10 million mark.
Leading the current box-office race is Tarung: Unforgiven with RM20.6 million, followed by Polong at RM15 million, Libang Libu with RM14.1 million, Malaikat Malam with RM12.2 million, and Matt Lai’s Ah Beng vs Liang Po Po, which reached RM10 million.
Now at RM10.6 million and still playing in cinemas, Chelot has given Malaysian audiences another homegrown success story to talk about.
More importantly, its performance adds to the growing momentum surrounding the local film industry, which continues to produce films capable of drawing audiences and making a significant impact at the box office.
Chelot stars Beto Kusyairy, Shukri Yahaya, Shaheizy Sam, Nadhir Nasar, Alicia Amin, Mustaqim Bahadon, and Theebaan G among others.
The story follows special operations police officer Inspector Haqqim (Shukri), who is crushed by debt and family pressure.
When a high-stakes raid goes tragically wrong, he secretly becomes an informant for a dangerous weapons-smuggling ring led by Datuk Bakri (Shaheizy) and his right-hand man Azraf (Beto), trapping him in a deadly game between the law and the underworld.
