VENICE, Sept 6 — Robert Pattinson has added another viral moment to his growing internet footprint after laughing off a fan’s shouted quote from Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster The Odyssey while signing autographs at the Venice Film Festival.

The British actor was greeting fans outside a festival venue when someone in the crowd yelled, “Somebody get these beggars out of here!” — a line he delivers as Antinous, one of the main antagonists in Nolan’s 2026 epic. 

Clips of the exchange show Pattinson pausing, looking up in recognition and breaking into laughter, prompting cheers from onlookers as he continued signing. 

The video has since circulated widely on X and TikTok.

The shouted line has already become one of the year’s most recognisable memes, with users repurposing Pattinson’s delivery to jokingly dismiss people asking for favours, money or attention. The scene originates from The Odyssey, released in July 2026, in which Antinous orders Odysseus—disguised as a beggar—to be thrown out of the palace, snarling, “Somebody get these beggars out of here!”

Online, fans framed the Venice moment as the meme “escaping the screen,” noting the surreal effect of hearing the quote shouted back at the actor in real life. 

Others praised Pattinson for recognising the line instantly and reacting with amusement rather than irritation, reinforcing his reputation for turning red‑carpet and festival appearances into shareable clips.

The Odyssey has been one of 2026’s biggest releases, drawing critical praise and strong box office on the back of Nolan’s reinterpretation of Homer’s epic and Pattinson’s theatrical turn as Antinous.
