KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 — It was a nostalgic and heart-warming evening with Ronan Keating as he performed his first Malaysian concert after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Organised by MIC Entertainment Group, the Ronan Keating Live In Malaysia 2023 concert was held yesterday at Arena Of Stars in Resorts World Genting.

It saw a turnout of 4,700 fans, all ready to walk down memory lane with the Irish pop singer.

The still-boyish crooner, 46, did not disappoint, delivering feel-good moments with hits If Tomorrow Never Comes and Father And Son.

Keating expressed his happiness at being back in Malaysia, as his last concert in Genting was in February 2020.

“As we all know, it was one week before the world went into lockdown,” he said with a wry smile.

His sincerity, charm and utterances of “terima kasih” throughout the two-hour concert won over the crowd.

The most magical moment occurred when he sang his biggest hit When You Say Nothing At All. Encouraging audience members to turn on their mobile phone lights, the venue transformed into a sea of stars as the crowd sang along to the chorus.

Keating debuted in the early nineties as the lead singer of the now-defunct Boyzone, one of the most well-known boy bands of its generation with chart-topping singles.

Since launching his solo career in 1999, Keating has released 12 studio albums. To date, Keating has sold over 20 million records worldwide, not including the 25 million with Boyzone.

Keating also surprised the audience with a handful of Boyzone hits including Picture Of You and No Matter What. He touchingly dedicated the latter to Stephen Gately, his former bandmate and close friend who died in 2009.

As his encore, Keating performed Life Is A Rollercoaster, a befitting end to a memorable showcase.
