KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 — Suga of K-pop group BTS has begun his journey to fulfil his military service in the South Korean army.

In a statement from label BIG HIT Music yesterday, the rapper has terminated his enlistment postponement and will start his mandatory military service.More details on the date of his enlistment will be announced soon.

“We ask you (fans) for your continued love and support for SUGA until he completes his military service and safely returns. Our company will spare no effort in providing support for our artistes,” BIG HIT Music said.

Suga, whose real name is Min Yoon-gi, recently ended his D-Day World Tour with a concert in Seoul on Sunday which was his final concert before enlistment.

Videos circulating on social media showed the rapper bursting into tears while performing the song Dear My Friend towards the end of the concert.

Fellow members Jin, and j-hope attended Suga’s concert to show him support, holding BTS lightsticks.

At one point, member RM showed up onstage to perform an unreleased track.

Suga will be the third member to join the South Korean army following Jin and j-hope.

Meanwhile, fellow band member V, also known as Taehyung recently announced that he will be dropping his solo album Layover on September 8.
