KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 — The driver of a BYD Seal involved in a six-vehicle collision that killed a five-year-old girl on Jalan Kuching is to be charged at the Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the investigation team arrested the 24-year-old suspect immediately after he was discharged from a private hospital, where he had sought treatment.

“The suspect was arrested at about 11.30am today and is now being held at the Dang Wangi police lockup.

“The investigation papers were subsequently referred to the Attorney General’s Chambers, which agreed that the suspect would face three separate charges,” he said in a statement here.

Mohd Zamzuri said the suspect would be charged under Sections 41(1), 42(1) and 52(1) of the Road Transport Act for causing death by dangerous or reckless driving, dangerous or reckless driving, and failing to stop after an accident, respectively.

In the accident on October 10, a five-year-old girl died after the car she was travelling in was involved in the collision on Jalan Kuching heading from the city centre towards Segambut.

Preliminary police investigations found that the Perodua Bezza carrying the child and her family was struck from behind by a BYD Seal.

The Bezza then spun into the right lane and collided with three other vehicles.
