KUALA LUMPUR, October 31 — Former model and America’s Got Talent co-host Heidi Klum may be the Queen of Halloween for her eye-grabbing costumes since her first Halloween party in 2000, but it appears she may have serious competition given the efforts of other celebrities this year.

While her much-awaited look this year has yet to surface, Hollywood threw on their finest costumes and make-up for the scariest and strangest this Halloween to showcase actual contenders to Klum's crown.

Here are Malay Mail's top eight picks for the favourites this year.

Topping the list is rapper and producer Sean 'Diddy' Combs with his screen-worthy accurate take of Heath Ledger's Joker from the 2008 The Dark Knight complete with a maniacal cackle and demeanour.

Until Klum offers her expected effort, the hip hop icon who blew everyone away with his attempt deserves to be crowned King of Halloween.

He also shared a behind-the-scenes video of the work that went behind the look as well as another attempting to 'hijack' rapper Tyler the Creator's vehicle.

While it is still unknown if Diddy's Halloweeen outing has ousted Klum as reigning royalty of Halloween, he definitely deserves to be crowned King of Halloween.

Lili Reinhart

Lili Reinhart decided to take on Sarah Sanderson from 1993's Hocus Pocus, recruiting her fellow Riverdale cast members Madelaine Petsch and Camila Mendes to complete the trio with truly bewitching results.

Lizzo

American singer and Lizzo also turned heads with her effort as Marge Simpson from The Simpsons.

Kim Kardashian

While she has been in the news for her former beau of late, Kim Kardashian took up the Halloween challenge with her stunning look as Mystique from the X-Men franchise.

Kylie Jenner

The entrepreneur and socialite was absolutely gorgeous in her homage to the 1935 film Bride of Frankenstein with several looks, including a custom Jean Paul Gauthier gown by Glenn Martens.

If that wasn't enough, she also offered a second look as Elvira: Mistress of the Dark.

Janelle Monae

The singer and rapper earns a special mention after having surprised many with her out-of-the-world costume as Diva Plavalaguna from 1997's The Fifth Element.
