KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 — After more than four years of touring the globe, The Weeknd is bringing his blockbuster After Hours Til Dawn tour to a close in Kuala Lumpur, where an estimated 130,000 fans are expected to turn out for its two-night finale.

The Canadian superstar will take over TM National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on November 4 and 5, with concert organiser Live Nation Malaysia anticipating crowds of around 65,000 each night.

For Live Nation Malaysia managing director Paramananthan Rajagopal, securing the tour’s grand finale marks a major milestone for Malaysia’s live entertainment scene.

“Obviously, The Weeknd is one of those shows Malaysian fans have been anticipating for a very long time.

“This is the final stop of his tour, and I feel like the stars aligned for us to secure the grand finale of a five-year global run — it’s going to be epic.

“It’s a major year for both Live Nation Malaysia and Malaysian concertgoers,” he told Malay Mail today.

That anticipation has already spilled over into a dedicated merchandise pre-sale at Bukit Jalil, which organisers added to the schedule to cope with overwhelming demand.

Speaking to Malay Mail at the event, Paramananthan said the additional shopping day was not part of the original plan.

“This wasn’t supposed to happen, but demand was so high that we created a pre-sale ahead of the main show just to accommodate everyone,” he said.

With tens of thousands of concertgoers descending on Bukit Jalil over the next two nights, organisers are also bracing for heavy traffic around the stadium.

Paramananthan urged fans to use public transport instead of driving, with train operating hours extended until 12.30am to ease the post-concert rush.

He thanked Federal Territories Minister Hannah Yeoh and Prasarana Malaysia Berhad for helping coordinate the arrangements, adding that the extension was limited by tight operational schedules ahead of the following working day.

The possibility of rain poses another challenge for the outdoor concerts, although Paramananthan said organisers were prepared to work around Malaysia’s unpredictable weather.

“We also know the weather isn’t ideal for outdoor concerts, but we embrace it. As Malaysians, we understand the weather pattern really well — it rains, and then it stops.

“That’s why we make the most of the dry windows, ensuring everyone can move around smoothly, grab their food and merchandise, and enjoy the experience,” he said.

The After Hours Til Dawn tour, which officially began on July 14, 2022, at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has become the highest-grossing tour by a male solo artist, raking in approximately US$1.07 billion (RM4.36 billion) as of September 2026, according to Pollstar.

The record-breaking figure is expected to grow further once earnings from the tour’s final Asian leg are tallied.
