KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 — The award-winning Ola Bola has just added another accolade to its trophy rack.

At the recent 2017 PMAA Dragons of Malaysia, the Chiu Keng Guan-directed movie was awarded Gold in the Best Entertainment category.

Its win follows the success of Polis Evo, also an Astro Shaw production, which made history at the event last year when it won the same award, marking the first time for a corporate company to emerge victorious in the category.

Set in the 1980s, Ola Bola follows a multicultural team of Malaysian football players as they struggle to overcome personal disagreements to unite as a team. As they work together, a triumphant zero to hero story was made with a gain of a place at the 1980 Summer Olympics.

Released in 2016, the movie took home three awards at the 28th Malaysian Film Festival (FFM 28), for Best Costume Design, Best Original Theme Song and Best Original Score.

A Best Editing accolade was also awarded to it at the 57th Asia Pacific Film Festival held earlier this year in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. — Cinema Online
