SINGAPORE, June 19 — Rockers Dream Theater will be making a return to our shores on Oct 3 for a concert at the newest gig hall in Singapore, Zepp @ Big Box in Jurong.

The progressive metal titans will be here as part of their Images, Words & Beyond tour, celebrating the 25th anniversary of their milestone 1992 album, Images & Words, which the band will perform in its entirety.

Dream Theater will also perform other fan favourites from previous albums such as Octavarium, Systematic Chaos, A Dramatic Turn Of Events.

Their latest, The Astonishing (2016), a two-act concept album that has been compared to The Who’s Tommy, Pink Floyd’s The Wall and Rush’s 2112, reached No 11 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Images & Words is their best-selling album to date, and was certified gold, and called one of the best metal albums of all time, despite it reaching a modest No 61 on the Billboard 200 chart when it was first released.

It has been just over a decade since Dream Theater — now comprising John Petrucci, John Myung, James LaBrie, Jordan Rudess and Mike Mangini — first played here in 2006 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The band returned twice since, in 2008 and 2012.

“The music is the main thing. (It’s) an energetic musical offering every night. The beauty about being in DT is that it allows us to express ourselves in every possible way,” vocalist LaBrie told TODAY back in 2007.

“We’re able to offer fans something different every time they see us. The whole live concert thing is just a very powerful environment to be.”

Concert organiser LAMC said ticketing information will be released shortly. — TODAY
