SEOUL, Dec 16 — Police have revealed that actress Kang Doo Ri took her own life on Monday.

Yesterday, multiple news organisations reported that the 22-year-old starlet had been killed in a car accident.

However, entertainment site Soompi said a police investigation found that Kang’s cause of death was actually suicide.

The Incheon Samsan Police Station announced that the actress’ body was discovered in Bupyeong-dong, Incheon on December 14.

A spokesman added that Kang had sent a message to a friend suggesting that she was going to take her own life.

Police also cited the remnants of coal briquettes as evidence that she ended her own life.

Soompi said that Kang indicated she was going through a rough patch in a message to fans on Friday, writing:

“I’m having a hard time these days because I’m experiencing a lot of bad personal problems. It was getting better after finishing the drama and doing broadcasts. But the situation became bad and didn’t go as planned so I couldn’t do anything. I’m really sorry and I apologise. However, I am thinking of getting ready to return to everyone after becoming calm. So I’m trying to stand up once again. See you next week.”

Kang made her acting debut in the 2010 drama “Three Brothers” and recently appeared on “Sassy Go Go.”

She was also popular as a broadcasting jockey.

Her funeral will be held at the Incheon St Mary’s Hospital today.
