LOS ANGELES, July 20 — While many One Direction fans are still in shock, Simon Cowell on the other hand thinks it’s time for Louis Tomlinson to man up.
Cowell, who put One Direction together as a judge on Britain’s “The X Factor”, revealed that he told Tomlinson to “man up” after the 23-year-old singer came to him to say he was having a baby with Los Angeles-based stylist Briana Jungwirth.
“I said to him, ‘You man up. You’re fortunate because you’re in a position to be able to look after the baby and not worry too much about that’,” Cowell said. “But I also told him, ‘I’ve received bad calls in my life but this is not one of them. This is your business but I’m here for you’.”
Cowell revealed what many fans had suspected: The baby wasn’t exactly planned.
“He didn’t kill anyone. He got someone pregnant. It happens every day all over the world. Again, Louis has got great family around him and, look, it’s a plus, not a negative,” Cowell reportedly told The Sun.
As if Tomlinson didn’t already have so much to content with, reports have emerged that the baby could cost him as much as £10 million (RM59 million).
According to a source, Tomlinson is looking at a maintenance bill of £20,000 a month until the child is 18. The source explained: “This is a case of a very short-term thing that will end up costing Louis around £10 million.”
In the same interview with The Sun, Cowell also left fans wondering about the possibility that One Direction could disband after taking a break following their fifth album.
