LOS ANGELES, Nov 6 — Lionsgate has announced the cast and plot details of its forthcoming sequel, in which original cast members will be joined by the British actor and by “Masters of Sex” star Lizzy Caplan.
“Now You See Me 2” will be set one year after the first movie, when the bank-robbing illusionists known as the Four Horsemen “find themselves face to face with a new enemy who enlists them to pull off their most dangerous heist yet,” according to the official synopsis.
Daniel Radcliffe will play Walter, the son of Michael Caine’s character. Also cast are Lizzy Caplan and Jay Chou (“The Green Hornet”), both in unspecified roles. The three newcomers will join Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine in the sequel.
Filmmaker Louis Leterrier will not return for the follow-up, however. Replacing him in the director’s chair is John M. Chu, who helmed “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” the second and third films in the “Step Up” franchise, and two documentaries about Justin Bieber.
