KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 ― Bursa Malaysia staged a mild recovery at mid-afternoon amid mixed regional market sentiments, said an analyst.

At 3pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was slightly higher by 0.31 of a point to 1,448.52 from yesterday’s close of 1,448.21.

The index opened 2.33 points weaker at 1,445.88.

On the broader market, gainers led decliners 407 to 390, while 446 counters were unchanged, 1,148 untraded and 49 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 2.01 billion units worth RM1.15 billion.

Among the heavyweights, Maybank and Public Bank lost one sen each to RM8.89 and RM4.20, respectively, TNB gained two sen to RM10.08, while CIMB and Petronas Chemicals were flat at RM5.59 and RM7.31, respectively.

Among the actives, both KNM Group and Bumi Armada added half-a-sen to 12.5 sen and 56 sen, respectively, Ekovest rose 2.5 sen to 59 sen, UEM Sunrise advanced four sen to 92 sen, and Iskandar Waterfront City inched up three sen 77.5 sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index widened 8.03 points to 10,734.67, the FBMT 100 Index went up 3.21 points to 10,395.22, the FBM 70 Index inched up 8.65 points to 14,296.21 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index increased 13.53 points to 10,986.00.

Meanwhile, the FBM ACE Index edged down 23.64 points to 5,190.50.

Sector-wise, the Energy Index improved by 10.38 points to 902.27 and the Plantation Index strengthened by 3.11 points to 6,928.21, while the Industrial Products Services Index eased by 0.16 of a point to 174.25, and the Financial Services Index edged down 6.91 points to 16,221.06. ― Bernama
