KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 ― Bursa Malaysia pared some of its gains to trade slightly higher at midmorning as mild selling emerged.
At 11.15am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) gained 1.20 points to 1,425.81 from yesterday's close of 1,424.61.
The main index opened 0.18 of-a-point higher at 1,424.79.
Market breadth was positive as gainers beat decliners at 388 to 281, while 373 counters were unchanged, 1,234 untraded and 73 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.66 billion units worth RM546.3 million.
Among Bursa Malaysia heavyweights, MR DIY added six sen to RM1.59, Tenaga Nasional rose eight sen to RM9.26, while Public Bank and CelcomDigi went up two sen to RM4.00 and RM4.32 respectively.
CIMB and Press Metal lost three sen each to RM5.32 and RM4.89.
As for the actives, MMAG and Jade Marvel were unchanged at two sen and 31 sen, while MyEG climbed 5.5 sen to 78.5 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index garnered 16.23 points to 10,440.64, the FBMT 100 Index rose 15.65 points to 10,134.93, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index advanced 17.28 points to 10,740.07.
The FBM 70 Index climbed 50.24 points to 13,531.88 and the FBM ACE Index was 57.55 points stronger at 5,260.88.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index eased 20.32 points to 15,746.42, the Industrial Products and Services Index inched down 0.22 of-a-point to 171.42, the Plantation Index added 4.18 points to 6,734.66, and the Energy Index grew 6.17 points to 838.44. ― Bernama
