KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 — Bursa Malaysia was mixed at mid-morning today as gains in heavyweights were offset by profit-taking in small-capitalised stocks.

At 11am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 2.23 points to 1,749.23, from yesterday’s close of 1,747.00.

Earlier, the index opened 1.15 points higher at 1,748.15.

On the broader market, decliners outpaced gainers by 424 to 238, while 377 counters unchanged, 690 untraded and 24 others were suspended. 

Turnover stood at 1.49 billion shares worth RM523.75 million. 

Of the heavyweights, Maybank rose three sen to RM9.03, while Public Bank, Petronas Chemicals and CIMB were two sen higher each at RM19.98, RM7.53 and RM5.62, respectively.

As for actives, EA Holdings and China Automobile were one sen better at eight sen and 3.5 sen, respectively, and Xidelang added half-a-sen to four sen.

The FBM Emas Index increased 4.88 points to 12,385.99 and the FBMT100 Index rose 8.73 points to 12,040.37.

The FBM Emas Syariah Index was 4.51 points weaker at 12,792.4. 

The FBM 70 declined 14.44 points to 14,480.51 and the FBM Ace fell 31.5 points to 5,745.05. 

On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index inched up 4.21 points to 3,284.24 and the Finance Index added 13.84 points to 15,781.75.

The Plantation Index eased 2.12 points to 8,178.32. — Bernama
