KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 — Malaysia's industrial production in March rose 6.9 per cent from a year earlier, better than market expectations, data from the Statistics Department showed today.

A Reuters poll had forecast factory output would grow 4.5 per cent, as exports of commodities remained soft.

Production for the month was supported by the mining and manufacturing sectors. In contrast, exports for the month rose 2.3 per cent largely helped by stronger demand for electrical and electronics products. — Reuters
