KUALA LUMPUR, March 25 — The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) remained higher at mid-morning today, lifted by gains in finance counters, dealers said.

At 11.01am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 8.78 points higher at 1,822.82.

Among the finance heavyweights, Maybank gained nine sen to RM9.24, Public Bank perked 14 sen to RM18.56 and CIMB added three sen to RM6.19.

On other scoreboards, the FBM Emas Index firmed 43.44 points to 12,490.32, the FBM Emas Syariah Index added 21.37 points to 13,083.93 and the FBM Ace improved 41.53 points to 6,934.08.

The FBMT100 Index jumped 41.949 points to 12,187.52, but the FBM 70 was down 18.95 points at 13,334.79.

The Finance Index rose 84.42 points to 16,088.95, the Industrial Index improved 17.35 points to 3,355.17 and the Plantation Index expanded 17.2 points to 7,812.64.

Gainers led losers 321 to 251 with 291 counters unchanged, 907 counters untraded and 12 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 703.79 million shares worth RM504.57 million.

Among actives, Asia Bioenergy and MQ Technology earned half a sen each to 11.5 sen and17.5 sen respectively, and Privasia gained two sen to 36 sen.

Tiger Synergy and Takaso were flat at 14 sen and 51 sen respectively.

Of the heavyweights, TNB added two sen to RM14.48, while Axiata lost two sen to RM7.05 and Sime Darby slipped one sen to RM9.29. — Bernama
