KUALA LUMPUR, March 4 — The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) extended yesterday’s gains to open higher on continued buying momentum in selected heavyweights, dealers said.
At 9.35 am, the key index stood at 1,823.77, up 2.52 points, after opening 4.41 points higher at 1,825.66.
On the broader market, gainers outpaced losers 167 to 163, with 257 counters unchanged, 1,175 untraded and 11 others were suspended.
Turnover stood at 355.26 million shares worth RM360 million On other scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index rose 11.55 points to 12,529.55, the
FBMT100 Index advanced 10.91 points to 12,214.29 and the FBM Emas Syariah Index gained 28.96 points to 13,093.99.
The FBM 70 declined 10.88 points to 13,442.70 but the FBM Ace appreciated
11.70 points to 6,751.40 while on a sectoral basis, the Finance Index lost 33 points to 16,068.18, the Industrial Index improved 15.67 points to 3,326.85 and the Plantation Index added 12.74 points to 7,986.31.
Among heavyweights, Maybank slipped seven sen to RM9.28, Axiata was flat at RM7.10, TNB gained eight sen to RM14.74 while Public Bank advanced 10 sen to RM18.70.
Of active stocks, Asia Bioenergy added one sen to 12.5 sen, Wintoni went up 2.5 sen to 25.5 sen, Jasa Kita expanded two sen to 19 sen while Hubline was flat at 2.5 sen. — Bernama
