KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 — Bursa Malaysia was easier at mid-afternoon today on continued profit-taking in banking counters, dealers said.
As at 3pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,740.12 points, down 8.78 points.
Market breadth was negative with losers leading gainers by 362 to 337 with 283 counters unchanged, 757 untraded and eight others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.18 billion shares worth RM1.34 billion.
The FBM Emas Index slipped 37.93 points to 11,973.81 and the FBMT100 Index dipped 44.48 points to 11,697.49.
The FBM Emas Syariah Index added 18.36 points to 12,526.42.
The FBM 70 increased 6.62 points to 13,041.68 and the FBM Ace gained 52.28 points to 6,025.14.
On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index fell 2.34 points to 3,186.82 and the Finance Index lost 172.71 points to 15,214.78.
The Plantation Index rose 1.11 points to 7,814.36,
Of the actively traded stocks, Systech rose 1.5 sen to 28 sen, IFCA MSC went up four sen to 94.5 sen and JAG improved one sen to 18 sen.
Minetech was flat at 10.5 sen.
Among heavyweights, TNB jumped 32 sen to RM14.54 and Public Bank advanced two sen to RM17.48.
Maybank and Sime Darby declined 14 sen each to RM8.48 and RM9.26 respectively. — Bernama
