KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 23 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia were slightly higher this morning, with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) up 1.54 points at 1,745.59 after opening 1.37 points better at 1,745.42.

There were 110 gainers and 64 losers while 117 counters were unchanged, 1,441 untraded and 13 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 73.69 million shares worth RM20.36 million.

The FBM Emas Index added 11.70 points to 12,005.35, FBMT100 Index 11.89 points to 11,739.61, FBM Ace 4.27 points to 5,738.32, FBM Emas Syariah Index 13.21 points to 12,486.73 and the FBM 70 19.07 points to 13,109.46.

Sector-wise, the Finance Index rose 34.40 points to 15,429.71 but the Plantation Index slipped 15 points to 7,615.23 and the Industrial Index was 1.25 points lower at 3,178.55.

Among heavyweights, Maybank and Axiata rose 1 sen each to RM8.85 and RM7.01 respectively. Public Bank improved 6 sen to RM17.76 while TNB fell 2 sen to RM13.80.

Of actives, Minetech Resources was flat at 9.5 sen, Nexgram was 0.5 sen better at 7.5 sen and Jasa Kita gained 1 sen to 18 sen. — Bernama
