KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 ― The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) remained in the negative territory at mid-morning, dragged by losses in selected heavyweights.

At 11.10am, the benchmark index fell 16.65 points to 1,813.08.

Among heavyweights, TNB was flat at RM12.54, Maybank shed 14 sen to RM9.71, Public Bank depreciated 22 sen to RM18.44, CIMB fell 24 sen to RM6.74 and Petronas Gas lost 38 sen to RM21.80.

Hong Leong Investment Bank said the FBM KLCI was expected to experience some wild swings ahead of Budget 2015 announcement today and the return of jittery mood on Wall Street and overseas markets due to concerns of global economic growth.

Market breadth was negative with decliners thumping advancers 776 to 65, while 148 counters were unchanged, 603 untraded and 12 others were suspended.

Turnover stood at 794.19 million shares worth RM650.62 million.              

On the scoreboard, the Plantation Index decreased 62.13 points to 8,194.24 and the Finance Index lost 182.84 points to 16,820.86. 

The Industrial Index depreciated 26.0 points to 3,126.24 and the FBM Emas Shariah trimmed 128.24 points to 12,572.20.

The FBM Ace shed 179.87 points to 6,621.92, the FBM Emas Index declined 128.24 to 12,572.2, the FBMT100 Index trimmed 115.32 points to 12,215.13 and the FBM 70 shed 141.54 points to 13,722.6.

Among active counters, MBSB rose 23 sen to RM2.60, Talam Transform was flat at 10.5 sen, Censof eased 3.5 sen to 63 sen and IFCA MSC was 1.5 sen lower at 47.5 sen. ― Bernama
