KUANTAN, Oct 29 — A foreign national has been arrested for allegedly injuring an auxiliary police officer and damaging casino equipment at Sky Casino in Genting Highlands, Bentong, on Tuesday.
Acting Bentong district police chief DSP Azmi Mahmod said preliminary investigations revealed that the 34-year-old man, believed to have been drunk, had allegedly behaved aggressively towards members of the public before entering the casino.
He said the suspect then allegedly damaged the screens of three gambling machines by repeatedly banging his head against them, as well as two chairs, resulting in estimated losses of RM85,000.
“The suspect sustained a forehead injury that required six stitches,” Azmi said in a statement today.
He said the man also allegedly punched a 32-year-old auxiliary police officer in the mouth, breaking two of his teeth.
Azmi said the officer had since received treatment at Bentong Hospital.
Initial checks revealed that the suspect had no previous criminal record and had tested negative for drugs, he said.
The case is being investigated under Sections 323 and 427 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and committing mischief resulting in property damage, respectively. — Bernama
