SEREMBAN, Oct 6 — The Negeri Sembilan Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) is ready to relocate a trap near Taman Tuanku Jaafar here after a sun bear was spotted in the residential area last night.
Its director Faizal Izham Pikri said a trap was placed at the 15th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) camp in Senawang on September 21, following a complaint that the animal had damaged stingless bee hives there on September 19.
“The sun bear captured in a viral video roaming the Taman Tuanku Jaafar area is believed to be the same animal that had previously damaged an orchard within the camp, as the housing estate is located adjacent to the camp.
“If the sun bear continues to frequent the residential area, we will take further action, including moving the trap to another location. We believe the animal came from the Angsi Forest Reserve,” he told Bernama here today.
