KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 31 — Two men on a motorcycle targeted a 49-year-old woman outside her home in Cheras, failing to snatch her handbag before ripping a RM2,000 gold bracelet from her wrist and speeding away.
Harian Metro reported that the woman was answering a phone call in front of her house when the pair approached on a Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle at about 11.15am yesterday.
Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said one of the men got off the motorcycle and initially tried to seize the victim’s handbag.
“A Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle carrying two unidentified male suspects approached the victim, and one of the suspects got off and tried to pull away her handbag but failed.
“The suspect then snatched a gold bracelet worn on the victim’s left wrist before fleeing with his accomplice,” he said today.
Naazron said the woman was not injured in the incident, although she lost the bracelet, which was valued at RM2,000.
Police received a report at 3.44pm yesterday over the snatch theft.
Police reviewing closed-circuit television footage from the area found that the suspects were wearing helmets with dark visors, while the motorcycle’s registration number could not be clearly made out.
Naazron said police were working to identify and track down the suspects to assist investigations under Section 395 of the Penal Code.
The case had earlier drawn attention on social media after photographs and video clips showing individuals believed to be the suspects were uploaded on Threads.
