KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 31 — Police are hunting for the driver of an unidentified vehicle believed to have struck a 45-year-old pedestrian, killing him in Shah Alam this morning.
Harian Metro reported that the crash happened at about 8.20am along Jalan Bukit Kemuning, in the direction from Taman Sri Muda towards Klang.
Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sarudin Samah said the victim, a Bangladeshi national, was believed to have been crossing the road when he was hit.
“As a result of the collision, the victim suffered severe injuries to his head and legs and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The victim’s body was later taken to the Forensic Department at Shah Alam Hospital for a post-mortem examination,” he said today.
Sarudin said the vehicle involved has yet to be identified, with police carrying out further investigations to trace both the vehicle and its driver.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Police have also appealed for anyone with information about the crash to come forward.
“Members of the public with information about the incident are urged to come forward to assist investigations by contacting investigating officer Inspector Abdul Nasser Peping of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at the Shah Alam district police headquarters at 012-286 3875,” Sarudin said.
