SHAH ALAM, Aug 19 — Police are continuing investigations into the death of a female teacher who was found unconscious at a school in Hulu Selangor late last month.
Selangor Police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said investigators were examining various factors, including whether stress played a role, in the case which has so far been classified as a sudden death report (SDR).
“Statements have been taken from several individuals, including the deceased’s colleagues, as we want to establish the cause.
“As I have said, the investigation is not yet complete. There are still many people we need to call in to verify information,” he told a press conference on the Selangor Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department’s operations today.
Media reports previously said the teacher was found unconscious at a school in Hulu Selangor on July 31 and later pronounced dead while receiving treatment in hospital.
Separately, Shazeli said police were investigating allegations that a workshop in Kampung Bukit Kapar, Klang, which had been linked to foreign nationals suspected of dismantling and selling vehicle parts, was set on fire to destroy evidence.
“At this stage, I am not entirely convinced it is a syndicate because only two foreign nationals, the owner and an employee, have been arrested.
“However, we cannot rule out the possibility of a wider syndicate operating elsewhere, with the premises merely used to dismantle the vehicles. We are also investigating the landowner to determine why the property was rented to foreign nationals,” he said.
Police previously arrested a foreign man in his 20s to assist investigations after a hearse believed to have been stolen was found at a used-vehicle workshop in Bukit Kapar at about 7.20pm on August 7.
The Immigration Department also detained 20 foreign nationals, comprising 19 men and one woman, in a raid on Jalan Kapar at about 4.30pm on August 12.
The raid uncovered an operation allegedly involved in dismantling and selling stolen vehicles, including a multi-purpose vehicle belonging to a funeral management company that had been reported missing.
The detention of Indonesian nationals during the raid also uncovered suspected involvement in operating a “safe house” for undocumented migrants awaiting repatriation. — Bernama
