KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 — The suspect involved in the stabbing of a schoolgirl at a school in Banting is currently in police custody, the Selangor Education Department said today.
Confirming the incident, the department said it is extending its full cooperation to the authorities in the ongoing investigation.
“The main priority now is to ensure the injured student receives the best possible care while providing assistance to the student’s family.
“A team of counselling teachers has been mobilised to provide psychosocial support and intervention for students, teaching staff and employees of the affected school,” it said in a statement.
The department also urged the public not to speculate or spread unverified information that could affect the ongoing investigation.
Earlier, Kuala Langat police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi confirmed the incident when contacted, adding that the victim is in stable condition.
A video circulating on social media earlier showed a commotion at the school after a woman dressed in black was seen carrying a knife and walking around the school grounds.
