IPOH, July 1 — Police have ruled out foul play in the death of a six-year-old autistic boy who was found in a drain at Kampung Baru Sungai Sumun, Hutan Melintang, yesterday.
Bagan Datuk District Police chief Supt Mohammad Ali Mohd Jali said the conclusion was based on the post-mortem conducted by a forensic pathologist at Hospital Teluk Intan, which confirmed that the cause of death was drowning.
“An initial examination of the victim’s body also found no physical injuries or any indication of criminal elements.
“Accordingly, the case has been classified as a sudden death report (SDR),” he said in a statement today.
Commenting on the victim’s disappearance, Mohammad Ali said police received a report on the incident at about 4.54 pm after the child was last seen in the living room of his house in Kampung Baru Sungai Sumun.
Search efforts were initially carried out by family members and local residents but failed to locate the child before an Incident Control Post (PKTK) was set up to coordinate the search and rescue operation. The victim was later found floating in the drain at 10 pm. — Bernama
