SHAH ALAM — Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has welcomed PAS’ call for its members and supporters to vote for Umno-BN candidates in state seats not contested by PN in the 16th Johor state election.
In a Facebook post today, Akmal described the move as a positive development.
“Thank you PAS. InsyAllah, we will start in Johor and then in other states,” he said.
PAS had reportedly issued the directive, with its deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man quoted as saying that he was confident party members understood the need for Muslim unity.
Johor BN has said it will contest all 56 state seats in the election, ruling out any formal electoral pact with PN, Pakatan Harapan or Muda.
