KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 — The suspect accused of stabbing a female student to death at a school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, is cooperating with the investigation, said Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Shazeli Kahar.
He added that the police had also recorded statements from two additional new witnesses, who are friends of the victim, Astro Awani reported today.
“Yesterday, I reported that 57 witness statements had been taken; now the total is 59. More statements will be recorded soon to obtain conclusive findings.
“Reports, particularly from pathologists, have not yet been received. I estimate it will take about another month before we obtain detailed autopsy results. We will try to expedite this.
“So, please give the police space to carry out the investigation,” he said at a press conference after the Walkabout Programme with Little India entrepreneurs in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration on Jalan Tengku Kelana in Klang today.
He also said that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has assigned an officer to each primary and secondary school for security purposes.
“We do have School Liaison Officers (PPS) dedicated to each school,” Shazeli explained.
In the October 14 incident, the victim died from multiple stab wounds to the chest and neck after being attacked by a 14-year-old student in the girls’ toilet.
Yesterday, the suspect was remanded for seven days by the Petaling Jaya Magistrates’ Court to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
