KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 — The suspect in the stabbing of a 16-year-old female student is believed to have been influenced by video games and social media content, which allegedly drove him to commit the violent act at their school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, on Tuesday.

According to Utusan Malaysia, Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said police are investigating which social media platforms, video games, or other online content the suspect had accessed that may have influenced him.

“In yesterday’s statement, we mentioned that the suspect was influenced by social media.

“Social media is vast, so we are giving the police space to determine which platforms truly affected him.

“Video games could possibly be one of them,” he said when met by reporters after visiting Little India business premises ahead of Deepavali celebrations in Klang today.

He also explained that the actions of a 14-year-old student wearing gloves are believed to have been part of the suspect’s early preparation to carry out the act.

Earlier, the suspect’s seemingly casual behaviour after committing the murder sparked discussions on social media.

This includes notes allegedly written by the 14-year-old suspect, such as “Zero Day,” which is associated with the day of an attack on NPCs (Non-Playable Characters).

In the October 14 incident, the victim died from multiple stab wounds to the chest and neck after being attacked by a 14-year-old student in the girls’ toilet.

Yesterday, the suspect was remanded for seven days by the Petaling Jaya Magistrates’ Court to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
