IPOH, June 22 — Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) today deployed two tracker dogs from the K9 unit to find a 17-year-old missing teenager in Kampung Tanjong Sejarah, near Kampung Tawai, Gerik.

State JBPM assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the search and rescue (SAR) mission for the boy, who has been missing since yesterday afternoon and is believed to be mentally disturbed, resumed this morning.

He said the dogs, together with three firefighters from the Kuala Lumpur JBPM, arrived at the Gerik Fire and Rescue Station at 9am and a search was conducted within a two-kilometre radius from where the victim’s motorcycle was found.

“The search is facing challenges as the road to the rubber plantation is narrow and there is no reception on the Government Integrated Radio Network (GIRN),” he said in a statement today.

Sabarodzi said the victim was last seen at 9 am yesterday at Kampung Ulu Kenderong, Jalan Air Bertam.

His family members went in search of the victim and found the motorcycle he was riding on at about 6pm in a rubber plantation six kilometres from Gerik town.

The SAR operation involved 82 people, including police, members of the public, district council and district office personnel. — Bernama
