KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 — Umno supreme council member Datuk Mohd Puad Zarkashi today said he agrees with his party’s deputy president, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, in calling for criticism to be dealt with internally.

However, he said social media is the fastest way to express any concerns rather than conducting an internal meeting.

“I don’t think the deputy president sees it as a way to restrict our voices, but to manage criticism well.

“Someone said if our opinions differ, then we must take it to an internal meeting and bang the table, but it can’t always be like that. This is the era of social media. It has to be fast,” he told reporters after attending the launch of the meeting for the party’s wings for the Umno general assembly 2023 at the World Trade Centre (WTC) here.

Mohamad Hasan, also known as Tok Mat, delivered his speech before more than 3,000 delegates today.

He called for Umno members to criticise the party internally rather than air their dirty laundry in public.

Puad Zarkashi was previously reported to have criticised PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli for delivering an “underwhelming performance” as economy minister, claiming this had sparked speculation of a Cabinet reshuffle mere months after the formation of the coalition government.
