JOHOR BARU, April 7 — Police have arrested six men in separate raids across the city here on suspicion of involvement in a mass brawl that was recorded in a video shared online.

Johor Baru South police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the six were all locals aged between 21 and 26, and were arrested over reports of a gang fight in Larkin here.

“During the raid, which was carried out from 4.30pm yesterday to 2am today, police arrested the suspects as we believed they were involved in a riot incident that had caused injuries.

“Police also seized six mobile phones and two iron bars during the operation,” he said in a statement today.

He said four arrestees did not have criminal records, while the remaining two had previously been arrested for drug-related offences.

Raub said investigators were seeking other suspects for the investigation launched under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntary causing hurt with dangerous weapons and Section 148 of the Penal Code for possession of weapons during a riot.

Early this week, a 30-second video clip of a gang fight in Larkin was shared online, which also showed a group damaging a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) before a fracas broke out.
