JOHOR BARU, April 7 — A 22-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl are to be under police remand for two days starting today after a video purportedly showing the two engaged in a sex act was shared on social media.
Magistrate Noorfazlin Hamdan approved the remand order applied by local police for further investigations under Section 377D of the Penal Code for gross indecency.
Under the law, anyone who is found guilty of committing or abetting others in any act of gross indecency with another person, whether in public or in private, must be sentenced to jail that can last up to two years.
A 23-second video recording of a couple supposedly having sex and acting obscenely inside a car was widely shared on social media since yesterday.
In a statement yesterday, Seri Alam police chief Superintendent Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said two people linked to the video were arrested separately the same day in Taman Johor Jaya and Taman Kota Masai between 4.15pm and 5.15pm.
He also said the alleged sex incident is believed to have happened at 3.03pm on March 29 in the parking area at Taman Kota Masai in Pasir Gudang.
He added that a red Perodua Axia and a red and white T-shirt of a school uniformed service have been confiscated for investigation.
