KUALA LUMPUR, March 16 — The compatibility of the party machinery, seat distribution and methods of communication with voters are among the areas that Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) need to examine with their political partners in the unity government to face the coming election in six states.

Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister said, for example in approaching voters, he thinks conventional methods such as face-to-face campaigning, can no longer be a priority.

“We must move towards the use of digital systems (methods of communication with voters) instead of analog, if we don’t change then we will continue to be in the old cocoon.

“But I am confident that when we were hit by the results of the 15th general election, we will change and we have started to change. I told Wanita, Youth and Puteri leaders to learn from the mistakes of other parties as well,” he said.

He said this when appearing as a guest on ‘Umno Memilih 2022-2026: Inilah Rumah Kita’ show, live via NRChannelTV on Facebook tonight.

The talk programme was held in conjunction with the launch of the new image of NRChannelTV, an online television channel, which was officiated by Ahmad Zahid.

He said NRChannelTV is one of the channels that has not left behind in keeping up with the development of communication by balancing content and present day technology facilities.

Ahmad Zahid said that although conventional television channels are also important, people have started to choose to continue to follow and watch television content online and that is inevitable considering that it is a wave that may also change in the future.

“Well done and congratulations to NRChannelTV in conjunction with the inauguration of their new studio. I hope the number of viewers will increase, of course because the content is different from any other TV channel,” he told reporters when met at the opening ceremony.

NRChannelTV is an alternative social media channel which started in December 2020 by reporting on the latest issues related to the world of politics and business. — Bernama
