KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 — All 191 flood victims in Kuantan, Pahang and Kulim, Kedah were allowed to return home as the situation improved, while 22 people were still taking shelter at one relief centre in Johor this evening.

In Pahang, the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) said the last three centres housing 173 evacuees had been closed, namely Balai Raya Kampung Pahang, Dewan Melati in Penjara Penor and Dewan Mat Kilau.

In Kedah, the Kulim District Disaster Management Committee secretariat Captain (PA) Amirul Aliff Ahmad said the relief centre at Sekolah Menengah Agama Madrasah Insaniah Jangkang was closed at 11am.

He said 18 victims at the centre consisted of six families from Kampung Padang Limau near Mukim Karangan.

In Johor, the JPBN said the number of evacuees remained at 22 people from seven families who were taking shelter at Balai Raya Kampung Seberang Batu Badak, Segamat.

It said the victims had not been allowed to return home for safety reasons as the flood waters had not fully receded.

The committee also said that the weather throughout the state is forecast to be sunny. However, the water level of Sungai Bekok in Batu Pahat is still above the danger level, with a reading of 18.78 metres. — Bernama
