KUCHING, Jan 13 ― All travellers arriving from abroad must go through a temperature screening at the international entry points in Sarawak.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said that the decision was made after assessing the current situation of Covid-19.

Individuals who are detected with a fever or symptoms will be given a slip to take a Covid-19 test at a government or private clinic, it said.

"A throat swab test must be done within 48 hours and if they test positive, they will be quarantined at accommodation premises.

“Those who test negative but show symptoms are advised to wear face masks, especially in public and crowded places," it said.

Meanwhile, SDMC also encouraged high-risk individuals to get vaccinated against Covid-19 to reduce the probability of serious infection and death.

"The Malaysian Ministry of Health will also continue to monitor the development of the Covid-19 infection within and outside the country to ensure that appropriate prevention and control measures are implemented continuously.
