BATU PAHAT, March 13 — Penggaram State Assemblyman Gan Peck Cheng said she will support efforts by state government for the good of the people and will “criticise” if there are matters that burden the people.

In expressing her views, she said, the Johor Pakatan Harapan (PH) would not merely oppose, but could also be a “friend” in the state government.

“Developing the state is our (PH) main aim. The main task of every elected representative is to serve the people and they (elected representatives) have to be honest, not becoming an elected representative to pursue something or have self-interest,” said the Johor DAP treasurer when met by Bernama today.

In the Johor polls yesterday, Gan defended the Penggaram state seat with a majority of 9,956 votes in the four-cornered fight.

On her plams to develop the state constituency, Gan said she would continue to focus on welfare activities which she had been doing since becoming the Penggaram assemblywoman in 2013, and also to address the problem of flash floods. — Bernama
