KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 — A total of 2,733 more Covid-19 infections were detected nationwide over the last day, the 13th day numbers have remained above the 2,000-case mark.

A tweet by Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah showed Selangor once again as the state with the highest number of new cases with 750 new infections, followed by Kelantan with 484, and Sarawak with 432.

Kuala Lumpur reported 377 new cases, Johor 220, and Penang 115, with the nation’s cumulative Covid-19 count now at 398,451 cases.

Dr Noor Hisham in his statement later said there are currently 25,414 active Covid-19 cases nationwide.

He also revealed there were 13 Covid-19 related deaths over the last 24-hours, in Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kelantan, Sarawak, Kuala Lumpur, and Johor.

Among the Covid-19 related deaths include that of a 23-year old non-Malaysian male victim, the youngest reported today, who tested positive after his body was brought to Hospital Selayang.

Other deaths involved all local victims aged between 45 and 83, with most of them suffering from existing comorbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart and kidney diseases.

With today’s figures, the current death toll stands at 1,462 deaths, which translates to a 0.37 per cent fatality rate.

Dr Noor Hisham also included how 294 Covid-19 patients are currently warded in intensive care units, with 138 of them requiring breathing assistance.

The DG also reported 2,019 more patients who were cured and recovered from Covid-19, bringing the recovery rate to 93.3 per cent with 371,575 recoveries.

Dr Noor Hisham also reported 11 new infection clusters reported over the last day.

Four of these new clusters involve educational institutions, namely the Jalan Puchong, Persiaran Setia Murni, and Jalan Sejati clusters in Selangor, and the Cangkat Minden cluster in Penang.

The Jalan Puchong and Persiaran Setia Murni clusters both involve public schools with 21 and 14 confirmed cases respectively.

The Jalan Sejati cluster involving an education institution has 42 positive cases, and the Cangkat Miden cluster with 14 confirmed cases.

Three more clusters, said Dr Noor Hisham, were discovered in factories in Kelantan, Johor, and Melaka.

In Kelantan, he said the Jalan Padang Tembak cluster has 37 positive cases, the Jalan Kempas Muar cluster with 67 positive cases, and the Teknologi Ayer Keroh cluster with 21 cases.

Three more clusters were detected from community spreads, namely the Sungai Tuah cluster in Sarawak, the Bandar Baru Sentul cluster in the capital, and the Akar Peluru cluster in Kedah.

The Sungai Tuah cluster in Kanowit has to date 31 positive cases all within a similar locality, the Bandar Baru Sentul cluster with 12 positive cases, and the Akar Peluru cluster with 16 cases.

Finally is the Jalan Bukit Emas cluster detected among high-risk individuals within a nursing home in Seremban where 19 Covid-19 positive cases have been detected to date.
