KUALA LUMPUR, June 4 — Kedah has now taken the top spot for the most number of vehicles attempting to flout the interstate travel ban.

During his daily press briefing in Putrajaya, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that 63 vehicles were recorded trying to leave Kedah, followed by 25 in Selangor and 14 in Melaka.

He said no compounds were issued by the police to those breaching the Hari Raya Aidilfitri visit’s SOP.

“The Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) conducted 140 roadblocks nationwide, and checked 290,432, vehicles compared to 267,373 vehicles the day before,” he said.

Ismail added that 74,901 general checks were conducted to ensure compliance with the conditional movement control order (CMCO) was carried out which involved 19,756 officers.

He said 111 vehicles were instructed to turn back for attempting to cross state borders without police permission.

“The RMP had yesterday detained 31 individuals, for violating the CMCO, and out of that number, 26 were remanded while five individuals were given police bail,” he said, adding that police had also issued 93 compounds for various offences relating to CMCO violation nationwide.
