SINGAPORE, Oct 9 — A 49-year-old woman who grabbed and kissed two brothers, including a 16-year-old boy, without their consent at a Singapore shopping centre after drinking about 10 cups of beer has been jailed for 21 weeks.
Goh Mei Chi was sentenced on Friday after pleading guilty to molestation, behaving in a disorderly manner and causing annoyance while drunk in a public place, The Straits Times reported.
Three other charges were taken into consideration during sentencing.
The court heard that Goh approached the brothers, aged 16 and 23, at Boon Lay Shopping Centre at about 11pm on February 12, 2024, after consuming “around 10 cups of beer”.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Joelle Loy said Goh grabbed both brothers by their collars before kissing them on their right cheeks and lips, leaving them shocked and feeling violated.
She was arrested at about 1.30am the following day and released on a personal bond on February 14.
Less than a month later, Goh was arrested again after causing a disturbance at a coffee shop in Jurong West.
At about 10.30pm on March 5, 2024, she approached a table where a 44-year-old man was drinking with his friends and took one of their beer bottles.
When the man asked her to return it, she refused.
Goh briefly walked away before returning and throwing several beer bottles onto the ground.
The man subsequently injured himself after accidentally stepping on shards of broken glass.
Police arrested Goh at about 11.20pm that night, but she was released on a personal bond two days later.
She offended again in September that year after another bout of drinking.
According to court documents, Goh consumed at least one bottle of beer, one bottle of soju and a can of beer at about 10pm on September 8.
In the early hours of the following morning, a police officer spotted her along Boon Lay Avenue and noticed that she smelled strongly of alcohol.
When the officer told her to go home, Goh refused and instead raised her voice at him and his colleague.
She was arrested and subsequently charged in court in 2026.
