KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 — Expressing confidence in Barisan Nasional (BN), the Malaysian Hindu community voiced their support towards Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s leadership and called for undivided support for the ruling party in the 14th general elections.
World Hindu Council Malaysia president VK Regu said under Najib’s administration, the Hindu community has received many benefits as the plight of the group has been heard and addressed by the BN chairman.
“We are very confident in our prime minister, who had successfully developed Malaysia to become a respected country globally.
“We have experienced development, peace and prosperity today, which is the result of the country’s administration under Barisan Nasional,” he said in a statement.
Vegu said the community is doubtful of the promises and commitments pledged by Pakatan Harapan, especially in Selangor.
He said although the Hindu community makes up 95 per cent of the Indian group in Selangor, there has been no Hindu representation amongst the Opposition parliament candidates for the state.
“We have faith in the openness and caring character of Datuk Seri Najib and the BN government, who will give us a better platform to discuss on how to develop the Hindu community in Malaysia,” he said.
