SEBERANG PERAI, April 28 — Shouts of “Barisan Nasional” and “Hidup Rakyat” filled the air as candidates and their supporters from Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) arrived at the Permatang Pauh nomination centre in Institut Kemahiran Tinggi Belia Negara (IKTBN) Bukit Mertajam.
The BN candidates for the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat and three state seats, led by Datuk Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said, arrived at about 8.40am just 10 minutes before the PH candidates, led by Nurul Izzah Anwar, arrived at about 9am.
PAS candidates for all four seats, led by Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden, had arrived earlier, at about 8am.
A few thousand supporters, who shouted their respective party slogans, were cordoned off about 50m from the nomination centre.
PAS and PH supporters were segregated to one side of the centre while BN supporters were told to move to another side.
The candidates with their proposers and seconders entered the hall at exactly 9am after the Election Commission returning officer Mohamad Ali Sebra announced the nomination process had opened.
