PETALING JAYA, Feb 6 — Security guards manning Surian Condominium security said the suspect in D. Tharani’s murder who was a building maintenance and security supervisor came off as a pious person.
“One of the things that stood out about him was that he had the Tilak mark on his forehead every day, and by this we assumed he was a holy and religious person,” said one of the guards who requested anonymity to the Malay Mail.
The security guard added they only spoke to the suspect over matters involving work and found out about the murder after reading the newspapers.
Tharani’s fellow colleagues were tight lipped and only offered vague comments surrounding the incident, keeping mum when queried about the suspect and victim.
The condominium security had denied entry to reporters wanting to meet the victim’s colleagues and staff at the building’s management office.
Surian Condominiums Management Corporation later issued a statement expressing sadness over the passing of Tharani, who was hired as their administration executive.
It said out of respect to the victim’s family and the ongoing murder investigations, no further comment about Tharani’s death would be made.
“Our heart goes out to her family in these dark days.
“Members of the corporation have and will continue to visit the family to console them during this difficult time, and assist police in their investigations,” the statement read.
Yesterday afternoon, 35-year-old Tharani was allegedly murdered by her colleague of three months after she supposedly rejected his marriage proposal.
The suspect allegedly stabbed Tharani in the neck at the Giant Hypermarket parking lot in Kota Damansara after he was rejected, having known the victim for no longer than the time they had become colleagues.
He then drove her car with her dead body slumped in the front passenger seat to the Damansara police station where he supposedly admitted to the murder.
The 37-year-old suspect was then arrested and has been remanded until Feb 12.
