KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 5 — Popular TV host and actress Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor received backlash on social media after promoting a beauty supplement recommended not only for adults, but infants as well.

Kosmo reported that Neelofa, who is the product’s ambassador, took to her Insta Story on Instagram to promote the product by giving information on the recommended dosage for infants and children.

According to her advertisement, the product is used to remove wrinkles, tighten the skin and contains anti-aging properties.

Fans expressed their disappointment in Neelofa, saying she should be wiser in selecting products to review on her social media account.

On Twitter, Neelofa was called out by a kidney specialist, Dr Rafidah Abdullah, who said: “I hope you avoid promoting products especially for kids and babies. It may cause unnecessary harm to their internal organs. I am sure you were not advised properly by the company.”

Model Alicia Amin questioned the purpose of providing anti-aging supplements to infants or children under the age of 18.

“Neelofa, I looked up to you as an entrepreneur. Just because you can sell something, doesn’t mean you should.

“I feel very strongly against people who promote products that feed on your insecurity, even worse to impose those insecurities on children.”

The video on Neelofa’s Instagram account was deleted automatically because Insta Story posts only appear for 24-hours.

Kosmo’s efforts to get comments from Neelofa were unfruitful.
