KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 1 — A pedestrian link connecting the Bandar Utama MRT station to 1 Utama Shopping Centre in Petaling Jaya was opened today.
MRT Corp announced that the elevated link-bridge connects the station’s Entrance B to One World Hotel near the newly relocated Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant and the Ground Floor of 1 Utama.
The 35-metre pedestrian link-bridge was constructed by Bandar Utama City Corporation Sdn Bhd (BUCC), the owner of 1 Utama and its adjacent buildings.

“As with any work involving more than one party, there were interfacing issues which had to be ironed out. We are happy that MRT Corp and BUCC have managed to work together closely to get this link opened.
“With the link, it will be easier for shoppers to get to Bandar Utama City Centre seamlessly. At the same time, this will encourage more people to use the MRT. This is certainly a win-win situation for all parties involved and the public,” MRT Corp strategic communications and stakeholder relations director Datuk Najmuddin Abdullah said in a statement.
Other commercial buildings in the Bandar Utama City Centre area are One World Hotel, IBM and KPMG office towers, Media Prima (TV3) and 1 First Avenue.
1 Utama director Datuk Teo Chiang Kok said the first phase of the mall’s newest extension — 1 Utama E, a sports centre with indoor skydiving and a surf centre — was launched last week.

He added that the shopping centre would build more pedestrian links from the MRT station to 1 Utama E, with connections to 1 Utama, as the company worked towards constructing the second phase of 1 Utama E, to be completed by mid-2019.
“The direct link will no doubt enhance the connectivity and accessibility of the mall to shoppers, tenants and the public from near and far and also make it convenient for office workers to come to work by the MRT,” Teo said in a statement.
