LUMUT, Dec 1 — The 17km stretch of Batu 3 Segari to Kampung Batu 10 Segari has been closed to traffic since Thursday due to flood.

Manjung district police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Hanif Othman said the road will be closed for repair works until December 21.

“As an alternative, motorists can use either Batu Hampar-Beruas-Ayer Tawar, Jalan Damar Laut-Panchor, Jalan Kampung Koh-Pantai Remis-Batu Hampar, Jalan Batu Hampar-Buluh Akar or Jalan Beruas-Ayer Tawar,” he said.

Speaking to reporters at Manjung land office here today, Muhammad Hanif said as at 11am, 932 victims from 215 families are being housed at six flood relief centres.

The centres are located at SK Dato Ishak, SK Nakhoda Taib, SK Sungai Batu, Sekolah Agama Rakyat Tebuk Yan, Dewan Orang Ramai Batu 8 and SK Mubammad Saman.

Muhammad Hanif advised flood victims to heed the advice of authorities regarding evacuation.

“Take your important documents and switch off all electricity at home,” he said.

“Police will monitor the areas to ensure no break-ins,” he said.
